Today we started off fractions with a group problem solving activitiy. We had to share 9 potatoes and 14 carrots evenly between 4 people. This involved cutting potatoes and carrots into halves and quarters. We have loads of engaging fractions tasks planned for the next couple of weeks.

In Room 7 we are a creative bunch! Whenever there is a spare moment, you will find most of us drawing or creating things using objects in the classroom. Below are some snaps of us creating still-life pictures using pencil and wax crayon. The challenge was to draw without rubbing anything out. We were so engaged and created beautiful pieces of art. The pieces are currently on display in Room 7 and will be heading home with the students to make way for some solar system inspired art shortly.
In addition to tulips we also drew a daffodil and spoke of the daffodils significance around this time of year.
For the last two weeks we have been learning all about statistics! We have had a blast creating questions to conduct statistical investigations. We collected data using tally charts, created pictographs and also displayed information in the form of a bar graph. Looking at the information we practised making statements. Next week we move onto fractions!
